Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation's government falling into chaos and time running out, it's up to Cale to save the president, his daughter, and the country. Released on June 28, 2013, by Sony Pictures Releasing, White House Down received mixed reviews from critics toward the screenwriting and the clichéd storyline, although the performances and action sequences were praised.

There is a certain comfort you can derive from these predictable mega-budget monsters. It has several climactic moments, but every time you ready for the exit, the film bounces back again for the next round. Never does White House Down surprise us or go in a direction we didn’t see coming.

Ye wearing a red MAGA cap and hugging Trump in the Oval Office, Trump pardoning Lil Wayne – weird and wild times, and a stark reminder of how far hip-hop has come as it relates to the presidency. What is most meaningful for me is knowing that I am witnessing history and trying to make images that do justice to the people and events I am covering. There were many things about the ending that were not realistic. I do not believe soldiers would have allowed journalists to be so close to the action, even helping them. After each conflict I covered, I went right back to covering local news. It helped me to move forward and not dwell on what I had experienced.

Cale kills most of the mercenaries and frees the hostages, one of whom bludgeons Killick. Sawyer attacks Walker, but in the fight, Walker uses Sawyer's handprint to activate the football and shoots Sawyer. Before Walker can finally launch the missiles, Cale crashes a reinforced Chevrolet Suburban into the Oval Office and kills him with the car's mini-gun. Emily runs outside and waves off the incoming fighter planes with a presidential flag, calling off the air strike.
Men Of Action
His interviewer, Deputy Special Agent-in-Charge Carol Finnerty, a college acquaintance, deems him unqualified for the job. After favourable reviews and a strong opening weekend at the box office, Alex Garland’s provocative Civil War is already poised to become one of the most talked-about films of 2024. I have to say, or in this case write, that this was a fairly disappointing movie.
It is pretty much a Die Hard wannabee with a daughter-dislikes-father sub-plot. I do not mind the reusing of the Die Hard concept if the film is good. President Sawyer, as imagined by Foxx, is a lot of fun ("I'm not doin' that shit!" he yells, watching Cale working some dangerous cables in the elevator shaft they're trapped in). Expressing a deeply humane political vision, yet with a true politician's common touch, the president also offers Nicorette most graciously. Any resemblance to the current resident of the White House is intentional.
